VESPERBILD

This Art is from the Gothic Art and Architecture in 1140-1500 CE. I really don't like this piece. I don't like how sad it looks. It shows grief, pity, horror, and shock. I don't really like the picture because Jesus looks weak and that he has anorexia. Jesus looks like he is way to skinny and Mary looking like the old women (witch) in Snow White. The one thing I love about this piece is the love. The love that Virgin Mary has for her child and the how she is holding her innocent and loving boy Jesus in her arms. When we looked over this piece in class on 11/22 I couldn't really look at it. I don't want to think Jesus looked like that in his mothers arms when he was taken off the cross dead after being tortured. I looked up different pieces of art that makes this piece look better to see how she felt and to make him look more human then skinny and not well. I would hate to be a mother holding my child in my arms after they are dead. That would be comfort to them, but I would hate to not have my child alive.

Here are some other pictures that I liked instead of this one.

I like this one because Mary doesn't look old and Jesus looks more better. He is a normal size and he looks more himself. It is more beautiful.
I also like this one : )
VESPERBILD / PIĆ«TA MARIA LAACH GERMANY - Maria Laach I like this one because you can see the love for her son on her face and the emotion she is feeling.

Blog #3

Fishing in a Mountain Stream is a great painting. I love how this painting tell us a wonderful story. It leads us open view of a deep vista dissolving into distant mist and mountain peaks. The handscrolls are viewed in small sections at a time making the painting more great so you can see each section piece by piece. I also love this painting because you can put some music on and glide through the painting section by section to make the story feel more real. I tried put soft music and some chinese music to see how it worked and it turned out beautiful. You can feel the flow of the painting and how music and a painting can tell a story. This painting makes me think of people going fishing and traveling through this mountains on a journey or many families living in this place where they fish and people that are working. The painting is amazing and gives great detail. What do you think?
